Fantastic purchase January 7, 2010 King Krimson (Stockton, CA) I've had my eye on this for quite some time, ordered it on Christmas day and it arrived six days later (was very impressed with the speed of delivery).
The vest is made of heavy canvas and cotton, still pretty good for the winter, don't know how I'll feel like after wearing it in the summer. The slits in the back and sides allow for great ventilation, especially after wearing it the whole day and working.
Pockets are plentiful; I had a previous vest that only had two pockets, and the reason why I bought this was because I wanted something that could hold all my "stuff": iPhone, Flip HD camera (with charger), digital camera, and voice recorder. Needless to say I found ample enough space to hold them all and then some
As one of the reviewers mentioned, it does attract ALOT of lint, but that's more semantics than anything else. Highly recommended!
Portable Camera bag February 12, 2010 Daniel S. Harris (Michigan, USA) Lots of pockets, Great addition to camera bag. Easy access to frequently used items while shooting. Had a khaki vest but the black is dressier for blending in at formal affairs.
Good product, but way too large May 11, 2008 Bornaz Lucian (Romania) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a good product, solid but way way too large.
I ware size M (european) usually. I bought size M of this product but this seems to be size XL (european). I bought several product of my size. Some of them fit to me some not (fit too large) but this is by far the largest one :(.
So, european buyers ... take care !
should be called: "The Utility Vest" May 24, 2008 Brian K. Vaughan 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The product (photo journalist vest) is very useful and durable. I wear the vest to work and get all sorts of complements. The pockets are large enough to house my PDA, stethoscope, pens, etc. I would highly recommend and rate the product 4/5 stars.

Wanted to thank the reviewers here; comments about being large sized was right; so I purchased the Medium and it was just right. July 30, 2009 Whitneymuse (California) 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
Stopped by to just thank the reviewers here; would have ordered the large because wanted a roomy vest to hold gear and "stuff"...so, went with the "medium" and was just right; the large would have been way too large on my body. (large dress shirt is plenty roomy for me; however, reasoning told me that I want roomy for a photo vest...digital camera, extra battery pack, the ususal suspects.
Camera 35 mm film and stuff would never have worked out with just a vest. Finally broke down and got the Panasonic Lumix FX-28 digital SLR, when it first came out...(went for the reviews...and not myfirst choice which the Nikon digital line; however, since none of my Nikkor lens set has the metering circuits to connect with the guts of the "D" line Nikon camera bodies. Made the decision to go with the whole new format of the Panasonic Lumix with their advertised Carl Zeiss lenses. (The downside is that all of my 52 mm filters won't fit the Zeiss objective since they use the oddball 46 mm filters.....all the more reason for Amazon to have a 46 mm filter product package.
We shall see if that was a wise decision in the long run; you can see I'm not that enthusiastic since I can't even rattle off the model number (went back and looked at the manual)...of this Panasonic digital I bought...it's the latest Panasonic SLR and bought it through one of the Amazon-tied-through vendors, since at the time all the usual vendors in New York were into "upselling" and selling packages that added on junk to the purchase price. As much as I bitch and moan about Amazon's lack of posting even a phone number for contact on its website unless you spend hours or memorize the keystrokes to get their 800.
Been a customer of Amazon's for Eleven years so the CSR, told me. (Wow, they know all about me...when they want to. )...Absolutely another reaon to get that Life-Lock service I think; wondered how I ended up on the mailing list of some of these companies....also use the "one-time use credit card number "Shop Safe" offered through the Bank of America branded VISA card. (American Express Gold used to have that...and then quit the service....so I stopped using my American Express Card...that's my tale...hope that helps someone, because these reveiws have helped me make my decisions on products that Amazon sells and doesn't sell; however, if Amazon doesn't then it's a long search ahead, I've found.
It's hard when you can't slip the vest over your body, for a try on. These reviews are important to gauge whether it's going to be a tent or snug like a "mummy" bag; trusted the review that said it was predominantly way on the large "european size."
That told me it was not Hugely large...but it was roomy enough...do I gambled that this was a "large" American medium...and was very right....now, we shall see if the fabric's very tight cotton weave, will wear like a cotton as the fabric label says it is.
I suspect that is why the reviewers have said it is warm, despite its 100% cotton label...And, wished to thank the reviewers here, that helped me to help me make the decision decision to purchase...I have the Rothco vest and it is cut smaller and it's very heavy canvas fabric cotton. This one's a much finer weave/lesser weight cotton, and not a "canvas heavy" fabric "hand".
Says it's machine washable too; warm water and gentle (probably place in "mesh washing bag" and do cold water, too, if you do.
Hope that helps someone and I can go to heaven heaven having paid back the people who took the time to review the ton of stuff I've purchased on my years of buying Jeff Beezos's (sic) market place... Thank you....got carried away here, but it's a pretty neat vest.
Wanted to add contribute this to the fine reviews that helped me; was walking out the door and found this at my door step...Thanks to the peson who wrote the Photo vest's reviews..you guys were very helpful.
Just purchased my second one; really liked the first one. This time took the suggestion of one who suggested the black for
