Low Price and quick delivery. June 22, 2006 Solomon (Colorado) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have never been on a safari, nor am I likely to go on one, but I like safari jackets because of their pockets. This jacket has the additional advantage of having sleeves that detach, so in hot weather it can be worn as a vest. The multitude of pockets is especially useful when traveling, but I find that they are also useful for everyday use. The waist of this particular jacket has an adjustment strap, so it can fit a range of sizes. The sleeves have Velcro wrist adjustments, so the jacket can be worn even if the sleeves are a bit long. I previously purchased the same jacket from another vendor for twice the price. Not only was the price of this jacket half as much, it was delivered on the original promised ship date. You can't go wrong for the price.
When I first wrote this, the price was quite a bit lower than it is now, so it is now not quite so good a deal.
GREAT VALUE, GREAT PRODUCT March 25, 2007 Rolandthunder (Georgia R.F.D.) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I agree with others who have reviewed this item that it is a quality product, especially given the low price. It has ample storage for everything except your sleeping bag! In fact, it has so much storage that it can be confusing. My car keys triggered the metal detector at a court house and, though I could feel them, I couldn't find the opening of the pocket that they were in. Finally, one of the officers reached in the appropriate pocket and removed them. (Duh!) So, if you need a durable jacket with lots of storage capacity, and can cope with having so many pockets, don't hesitate to buy this one. I do agree with prior posts, however, that the sizing is a tad on the larger size than usual and the side cinch tabs don't want to stay where you put them--though the latter could be fixed with a stitch of heavy thread or adhesive backed Velcro if that bothers you. In short, a great product, a great price, and a great vendor.
Safari Jacket June 7, 2008 Kathleen N. Koepke (Chicago, IL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We received the vest and found it to be high quality. The sizing fit perfectly as my husband wears this over a jacket. Color was true to the picture.
Excellent vendor to deal with. Would have no hesitant in buying from again.
Love this jacket! April 20, 2009 WanderingDude (Albuquerque, NM, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am on my third jacket. The first one I left in Brazil. The second in Mexico. The third I just happened to remember to bring back from Thailand. If you knew how cheap I am you would know that I think it is worth it to buy again. The price is extremely reasonable.
Mostly, I like getting on planes with my hands free. This jacket keeps me so organized, with everything in its place. You just pop the whole jacket on the X-ray machine at the airport. It isn't flashy at all, which I love, because it keeps the criminal element from looking my way, too. Your hands are also free all the time, which makes you much less easy to steal from in the places I travel. Lots of zippers and velcro makes it hard to get into your pocket without being noticed. It will even hold a big hardcover book in the pocket in the back.
The material is lightweight cotton, not waterproof. If you're going to do some serious outdoor trekking, another jacket might be better. I love the removeable sleeves and the little hooking doodads that secure thinks like keys. And the little tiny pockets are great for things like medicines and little SD cards for your camera. Airports are generally cool, so this lightweight jacket keeps me warm and then is not too hot when I get out of the airport. If you carry layers of clothing in the pockets, you will even be warm enough to handle some really cold weather. However, keep in mind it is not waterproof.
One thing: All 3 times I ordered this jacket from Andrew Christian, it took at least 3 weeks to get here. That is simply way too long. So, be sure and order it long before you need it. Also, it tends to run a little bit larger than other jackets I own. I mostly buy large jackets, but a medium in this product fits fine. For the price, you cannot beat it.
You can't beat this deal ! October 22, 2008 Davy Troxel (South Bend, IN) I must admit that the slow shipping made me check everywhere else for a similar coat, so I can tell you now that you will not find a better deal! Other companies (and ebay !) wanted from two to six times the price of this coat, and often theirs had fewer features. It was delivered within the estimated time with no problems and you can track it all the way.
This coat is really comfy; it feels like stone-washed bluejeans, and fits perfectly. The sizes here run large: I normally wear a 42-44 long suitcoat and the large here fits just right. The color is actually a light shade of army green, in spite of the photo.
There really are lots of great pockets with velcro and zip fasteners, and one pocket has a snapswivel for a compass, etc. The "vents" in the back are not what you expect: they are long, open pleats from shoulder to waist and are lined with mesh to let your body breathe while still staying warm (they do not show in the picture, but are visible when you wear the jacket if you move just right). The cuffs are stretchy and have velcro straps to keep out bugs, weeds, and cold air. In spite of the other comments on this item, I don't think that the side straps are "wimpy. In fact, if you tighten them down with the coat zipped up, you actually appear to lose 20 pounds (a great feature if you're hunting more than animals!).
A great coat!
